I always want to frighten them more.
By SHIRLEY JACKSON, WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE
Castled Hearts
Hardened like stone, destined to be cold
Castled with pain, to leave you dismayed
Open hearts are used and played
Misery can masquerade
As the beautiful castle displayed
The photo is a great representation of how hard a heart can become after being abused and misused so much. It will turn into stone and create a façade of contentment when instead it is completely broken. When we build walls to protect ourselves it becomes harder to break them down. They become safe where you will feel protected. The castle represents the heart’s pain. And it’s just waiting to be loved.
